IIDA is proud to announce the winner of the inaugural IIDA Booth Design Competition at Orgatec
The competition jury panel, composed of IIDA International Board Members, included industry leaders Scott Hierlinger, FIIDA, LEED AP (Design Director and Co-Principal, NELSON); Marlene M. Liriano, IIDA, LEED AP ID+C (Managing Director, IA Interior Architects); and Jim Williamson, FIIDA (Principal, Gensler).
The 2016 Booth Design Competition at Orgatec provided students the opportunity to design and transform a trade show booth at this year's Orgatec Trade Fair in Cologne, Germany, on Oct. 25-29. This year's winner, Kelsey Ballast, Student IIDA, also received an all-expense-paid trip to Orgatec, where she will have the opportunity to tour the Vitra campus, experience the trade show, and see her design realized.
Kelsey Ballast's project draws inspiration from the opportunities that IIDA presents to its members. These opportunities act as a looking glass into other areas of the industry, educational opportunities, and other members’ careers and connections. Using a window as a representation of this, Kelsey's plan is to create a compelling and powerful custom structure of multiple industrial windows that will frame the booth.
