Bill QuimbyBilly Quimby
Principal
BAMO

Billy Quimby’s fascination with space has acted as a philosophical boomerang
throughout his life and career. His early introduction to the way space can shape
people’s experiences came from his own experience sharing a small home
in upstate New York with his parents and six siblings. Dreaming up fantastical
houses with a space for all led Quimby to pursue a Bachelor of Architecture degree
from Cornell University with the goal of becoming a residential architect.

Moving west in 2000, Quimby joined BAMO and discovered the world of interiors,
designing for hospitality and residential clients around the world. A brief
sojourn to Los Angeles allowed him to further explore and develop his technical
knowledge as an architect for a residential design-build firm, but the draw of
spatial experience was strong and quickly led him back to interiors, and BAMO,
in 2008. With an expanded vision, Quimby was able to extend his expertise from
architecture to interior architectural design and custom installations. Challenged
very early in his career at BAMO to focus on intricately detailing his projects from
concept to completion, Quimby prides himself on creating meticulous backdrops on
which to layer the design story. As a principal of BAMO and registered architect,
he has a masterful ability to find balance and harmony in the most complex of
projects, easily navigating and imposing his contemporary vision with resourceful,
hands-on execution.

Quimby led the design effort for the acclaimed Four Seasons Resort Dubai at
Jumeirah Beach, which was honored with a 2015 Gold Key Award. More recently,
he completed an extensive renovation and reimagining of the Ritz-Carlton
Chicago, breathing new life into an iconic urban destination. His projects have
been featured in Architectural Digest, Boutique Design, Interior Design, Modern
Luxury Interiors
, and Town & Country. Quimby is also a Boutique 18 award winner.
