With our partners, The American Library Association and Contract magazine, the Library Design Awards is a biennial competition honoring excellence in library interior design.
PURPOSE | To honor excellence in library interior design.
WHO SHOULD ENTER | Any library interior design project who demonstrates excellence in aesthetics, design, creativity, function, and satisfaction of the client’s objectives.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS | Projects must be submitted by a licensed design professional. Previous publication is acceptable.*
JUDGING CRITERIA | Submissions will be judged in the following categories: Public Libraries, Academic Libraries, Special Libraries, Outstanding Historic Renovation Project, Innovation in Sustainable Design, Single Space, and On the Boards (a project currently in the design phase and not under construction).*
AWARDS | Winners and their clients will be honored at the ALA National Conference and published in Contract magazine and American Libraries Magazine.
DEADLINES | The next Library Interior Design Awards will take place in the Spring of 2010. For more information, please check back at a later date.

The Winners of the 2008 ALA/IIDA Library Design Awards
The distinguished panel of judges for the 2008 awards included: Joseph Rondinelli, Associate IIDA, Senior Associate, Shepley Bulfinch, Boston; Steven McCollom, IIDA, AIA Associate Partner, Gary Lee Partners, San Francisco; Drew Harrington, Director of Library Services at University of Portland; and Kathryn Page, Principal with Page and Moris, San Francisco. Nine phenomenal winners and two honorable mentions were chosen:
