Dan Roam, Keynote Speaker

Dan Roam is the author of the international bestseller THE BACK OF THE NAPKIN: SOLVING PROBLEMS AND SELLING IDEAS WITH PICTURES, Business Week and Fast Company's best innovation book of the year, and Amazon's #5 selling business book. THE BACK OF THE NAPKIN has been published in 25 languages and is a bestseller in Japan, South Korea, and China. Dan has helped leaders at Microsoft, Google, Wal-Mart, Boeing, and the United States Senate solve complex problems through visual thinking. Dan and his whiteboard have been featured on CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, Fox News, and NPR. Dan's visual explanation of American health care was selected by Business Week as "The World's Best Presentation of 2009", and got Dan an invitation to discuss visual problem solving with members of the White House Communications Office. His latest book, "Blah Blah Blah: What to Do When Words Don’t Work" was recently published in 2011.

Jaime Velez, FIIDA, Honoree

With over 25 years of experience, Jaime Velez is a leader in the international Interior Design community, engaging in a hybrid combination of interior design, architecture and strategy. As the Director in charge of Interior Design at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) in Chicago, Mr. Velez oversees the conceptual and design approach for interior architecture, leading projects of all scales and complexity levels both in the U.S. and abroad. His work expands over four continents and seventeen countries worldwide.

Velez has an extraordinary record of awards, publications, lectures, juries, and honors. His work has received major recognition, winning over 30 design awards including AIA National and Chicago Chapter Awards for Interior Architecture, ASID Illinois Chapter Awards, as well as a Gold Medal, Most Innovative Award and Best of Competition Award for Best of NeoCon. Most recently, Velez was elevated to Fellow of the International Design Association.
