Diversity Award Submission Guidelines

  

Eligibility Requirements

The candidate must be a current, full-time educator representative of a diverse background with any of the following: race, ethnicity, gender, physical ability, disability, and/or sexual orientation, who has made authenticated and recognized contributions for advancing racial/ethnic diversity in the interior design industry. The recipient must be available to accept the award at the IDEC Annual Conference, March 4-9, 2019, in Charlotte, North Carolina. A candidate may self-nominate.

Criteria for Submission

The candidate must submit the following documentation to be considered for the award:

  • A maximum 500-word written statement about how the candidate is contributing to the advancement of racial/ethnic diversity in the interior design industry.
  • PDF file of summary from CV including appointments in faculty positions and dates, courses taught, and other relevant professional accomplishments related to the nomination criteria.
  • Separate PDF files of four letters of recommendation, including:
    • Two (2) letters from former students.
    • Two (2) letters from interior design professionals who were not the nominee’s students, and who can personally address how the nominee has contributed to advancing racial/ethnic diversity in the interior design industry.
  • Headshot (JPG or TIFF at least 5x5 inches at 300 dpi)

If any of the above documentation is not included, your application will not be reviewed. Any inclusions other than those requested will be removed from your application.

Judging

The IIDA Foundation Board of Trustees and will review the essays and select the recipient.
