CEU: Building Codes for Interior Projects: Looking at the IBC [Alabama Chapter]

April 24, 2010

Event Type: Chapter Event

Chapter: Alabama

Description:
Participants will acquire an understanding of how the IBC relates to other regulatory documents such as the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, the ADA guidelines, and other ICC documents. They will become familiar with the organization of the IBC and be able to identify the location by chapter of essential code concepts. Essential chapters of the IBC (1-11) will be reviewed for scope of content. Participants will be made aware of how requirements can significantly affect the design of interior projects. Special emphasis will be given to the identification of uses within a space, means of egress and the use of rated walls within a project. Because basic presentation of code requirements will be augmented with actual design situations and experiences and in class examples, participants will be able to make useful connections for future implementation in their own designs
