IIDA HQ Update

Like so many of you, we are seeing and feeling the vast impact that COVID-19 is having on every aspect of daily life. From the deeply human and personal, to the expanse of global commerce and enterprise—our world has been profoundly altered.
The unforeseen economic circumstances caused by the outbreak have necessitated organizations to rethink their performance, their finances, and to adjust business operations accordingly.
IIDA is no different. At Headquarters, we are implementing actions to ensure our continued vitality and future financial stability. Based on current and anticipated economic conditions, including non-profit membership organizations, like IIDA, being ineligible for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), and in consultation with the International Board and financial advisors, IIDA has made some important short-term decisions.
Effective June 14, 2020, through July 19, 2020, all IIDA Headquarters staff will be on furlough and our regular business operations will temporarily cease during this time. This action, combined with already in place budget reductions, will allow us to preserve existing revenue and offset early negative impacts on Association reserves.
IIDA Headquarters will resume regular business operations on Monday, July 20, 2020. 
During the furlough, Headquarters staff will not have access to email, voicemail, or any of our current management or communication systems, and all scheduled Headquarters programming and outreach will temporarily pause. However, member resources through like the career centerdistance learningwebinar recordings, and affinity programs will remain available. 
Community, creativity, and character cannot be canceled! Local IIDA chapters will continue to deliver their excellent programs, services, and community outreach. I’m immensely proud of all IIDA chapter leaders, their boards and committees, and all volunteers for their pivotal role in IIDA leadership and their commitment and diligence during this time. 
This action is taken neither lightly nor cavalierly. We are optimistic about what lies ahead for IIDA, and we look forward to continuing to support, inform, nurture, and inspire our members and the broader design community.
