May 13, 2008, Chicago, IL – The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Leaders Breakfast series marked its eighth year as a series with events in New York and Boston. The New York Leaders Breakfast took place April 17 at Chelsea Piers, Pier 60 and the Boston Leaders Breakfast was May 1 at the Westin Boston Waterfront. Leaders Breakfast events are attended annually by designers, industry leaders, contractors, developers, real estate brokers and key business leaders in each city. Each breakfast is highlighted by a keynote speaker exemplifying an aspect of leadership in today’s world. The National Benefactors of the IIDA Leaders Breakfast series are Herman Miller and Interior Design magazine.

The New York Chapter hosted over 650 guests at their Leaders Breakfast event on April 17. Nancy Giles, a comedian and actress, presented the keynote address. She has developed a following for her social commentaries on CBS Sunday Morning as well as with theater fans for her solo pieces. Ms. Giles presented funny, perceptive and provocative observations of today’s world. The event honoree was Jack Lenor Larsen, an internationally known textile designer, author, and collector. He is recognized as one of the world's foremost advocates of traditional and contemporary crafts.

The New England Chapter welcomed nearly 800 attendees at the Boston Leaders Breakfast on May 1. The keynote speaker was Thomas Stewart, Editor and Managing Director for the Harvard Business Review. Under Mr. Stewart's leadership, the magazine’s global reach has grown to include 11 licensed editions, in addition to its flagship U.S. edition, and HBR has twice been a finalist for the National Magazine Award for General Excellence. Rose Mary Botti-Salitsky Ph.D., IIDA, ASID, IDEC was recognized as the Boston Leaders Breakfast honoree. Dr. Botti-Salitsky has been an educator for the past 20 years in the New England area and has been committed to professional recognition of the interior design profession at both the regional and national level.

The Kansas City Leaders Breakfast will be held on August 22, location to be announced. This event will feature keynote speaker Thomas Stewart, Editor and Managing Director of the Harvard Business Review. Norman Polsky, Hon. IIDA, will be the event honoree.

Save the date of September 23 for the San Francisco Leaders Breakfast, to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel. The keynote speaker will be Chris Jordan, an internationally acclaimed photographic artist and activist whose work explores American mass culture. The Chapter will honor Hank Dunlop, IIDA.

The Dallas Leaders Breakfast will take place on September 24 from 7:30-10 a.m. at the Dallas Museum of Art. Lucy Billingsley, who has spent her career in real estate, leasing, managing and developing a wide variety of residential, commercial and industrial properties, will provide the event's keynote address. Peggy Noakes, FIIDA, and Theresa O'Donnell are the event honorees.

The Seattle Leaders Breakfast, the newest addition to the series, will be held on October 7, location to be announced. Kevin Carroll, founder of The Katalyst Consultancy and the author of Rules of the Red Rubber Ball will be the event's keynote speaker, and David Katsunai, Assoc. IIDA, will be the event honoree.

The Chicago Leaders Breakfast is on October 10 from 7:30-10 a.m. at the Drake Hotel. Jerry Greenfield, co-founder of Ben and Jerry's Homemade, Inc., will be the keynote speaker, and the Chapter will honor Nick Luzietti, FIIDA.

The Toronto Leaders Breakfast, in partnership with ARIDO, is on December 5 at the Four Seasons. Joel Cohen, writer for Saturday Night Live, Suddenly Susan and The Simpsons, is the keynote speaker. The event honoree is Arlene Gould, MBA, RGD, FRSA.
