This essay contest was established to recognize an IIDA Student Member working on a degree in Interior Design with plans to pursue a career in the field. Members participating in Student Mentoring Week are eligible and invited to take part for a chance to receive a cash prize of $1,000. The competition encourages thought leadership regarding the mentoring relationship between IIDA Student Members and Interior Design leaders.
Competition opens: February 20, 2012
Deadline to enter: Friday, March 16, 2012 by 5 pm

Winners and all other entrants are notified via email in early April 2012. The winning essay is featured on the IIDA Foundation page, in the Spring issue of quad, in DesignMatters and on the IIDA Student Blog.

The Foundation Trustees are pleased to announce Shanna Thunell, Student IIDA, has won the 2011 Lloy Hack Essay Competition. Shanna is a graduate student at the New England School of Art and Design - Suffolk University. Her essay recounts her experiences during Student Mentoring Week as she shadowed an Armstrong sales manager visiting client sites in the Boston area.
