IIDA/Metropolis Smart Environments Awards

Good Design is more than pretty. It’s Smart.

The IIDA/Metropolis Smart Environments Awards recognize excellence in interior environments in tune with twenty-first-century needs and desires.

 

 

PURPOSE | To recognize individuals and collaborative teams creating excellent, leading edge interior environments


WHO SHOULD ENTER | Interior Design and Architecture professionals and teams practicing legally in their jurisdictions who have completed a Smart project; sustainable, accessible, and beautiful


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS | Projects must have been completed in 2009 (or not previously published)

| Rosalyn Cama, CAMA, Inc.; Jean Hansen, FIIDA, HDR; Sadhu Johnston, City of Chicago
 

MODERATORS | Rob Moylan, IIDA, LEED AP, IIDA Sustainable Forum Advisor; Susan Szenasy, Metropolis Magazine


AWARDS | The results of the Smart Environments Awards will be announced at USGBC’s Greenbuild Expo 2009 in Phoenix, where select winners may be invited to present their work. Winning projects will be considered for publication in Metropolis and Metropolismag.com

Commonly Asked Questions:

What kinds of projects can be submitted? All types of interiors can be submitted; commercial, residential, retail, etc.

Is there a size limit? All sizes of projects are allowed to be submitted, there is no sq. footage too large or too small to be smart.

Must they be LEED certified? No, projects do not have to be LEED Certified, just need to show why they are sustainable.

How are they being judged? The projects will be judged on the levels of sustainablility, accessability, creativity, and beauty. A SMART project is one that is leading edge in developement and implements minimal impact on the environment.

Are there different categories?  No, there are no categories however, at the judges descrition, up to four (4) winners my be chosen.
