Perspective on Community
Understanding the significant impact of today’s economy on the architecture and design community, commercial carpet manufacturer - The Mohawk Group - including its four brands Bigelow, Lees, Karastan and Durkan - in sponsorship with the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and Interior Design magazine, continues to fill an industry void with Re:Work, the workshop series designed to help out-of-work architects and designers get back to the drawing board, and back to work.
The first three events, held in Atlanta, New York City and Los Angeles, were met with capacity registration and resounding appreciation and enthusiasm by the industry. Additional Re:work events included Portland (July 15), Washington, D.C. (August 19), Phoenix/Scottsdale (September 19), Boston (October 26), and Minneapolis (November 19).

Re:work Webinar Series
For designers who are unable to attend the full day workshop, Re:work has expanded with a CEU accredited webinar series. The Mohawk Group, Interior Design magazine, and IIDA sponsored four online workshops in July.
"The response to Re:Work has exceeded our expectations," said Al Kabus, president, The Mohawk Group. "It's hard to see that so many of our colleagues and friends are out of work. It's a reality check on just how deep the impact of our economic situation goes. We're both pleased and humbled by our ability to offer needed resources and support through Re:Work. It's a small gesture that seems to be going a long way to helping people get back on their feet."

The free, day-long workshop, seminar-style and presentation events provide valuable opportunities to work with experts on resume writing, financial planning, interview skills and career coaching, while offering constructive industry insight from architects and designers. Experts are also on site at select Re:Work locations to offer portfolio reviews. Additionally, information about local career and other job loss-related resources in each city are also available to attendees. The events and webinars are CEU-accredited (.4 CEU credits) by IDCEC.
Participants must register to attend and visitors to the Re:Work web site are encouraged to nominate a city as a future host of the series. Find out more information and register for the event today. You can also connect with The Mohawk Group and “Re:Work” on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
