Be a Mentor

"Each program is structured differently, and I believe that it helps with our hiring process to see and understand how each school is teaching their students. I have participated in the program for a few years now and the best part of the day is when you see students learning something about the profession that they had not been exposed to before." -2015 Mentor

Now is your chance to give back to the future of design and let one or two interior design students shadow you for a one-day crash course in the interior design industry. Mentors have the opportunity to inspire the next generation of designers and connect with potential future employees at a critical moment in their education.

Who Should Participate

Current design professionals, manufacturer representatives, dealers, and educators who want to elevate the education of interior design students through real world experience.

The Student Mentoring Program pairs one or two IIDA Student Members with a mentor. Students will shadow mentors for one day at their mentor’s office. Pairings are random and based on the availability and proximity of mentors and students. If a mentor’s firm would like to mentor additional students, please have each mentor sign up individually.

Registration for mentors opens Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, and closes Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017.
