Sustainable Design Education Fund

The establishment of the Sustainable Design Education Fund is an important Foundation initiative. Created through the generosity of Maharam, this fund serves as a vehicle to advance the awareness and knowledge on the topic of sustainable design.

IIDA Professional and Associate Members who take and pass the LEED Accreditation Exam may apply for consideration for tuition reimbursement.

Specific guidelines for applying are as follows:

  1. Only IIDA Members in good standing are eligible to participate.
  2. Members who have taken and passed the exam in the time period of June 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009 may request consideration for reimbursement.
  3. IIDA will reimburse the member upon verification that:
    1. Applicant is an IIDA member in good standing
    2. Written confirmation from USGBC of passing the exam
    3. Verification of payment by the Member for the exam
    4. In the event that a member’s firm pays a portion of the cost of the exam, the IIDA member can still apply for reimbursement for the portion he/she has paid for.
  4. Maximum reimbursement will be $450.
  5. Members are requested to forward their documentation (photo copies are permissible, receipt of payment indicating member’s name, or a copy of the cancelled check both front and back sides are required for proof of payment) confirming the above listed items via US mail or via fax to IIDA Headquarters by 5:00 P.M./Central Time, Friday, January 29, 2010.
  6. Upon receipt of complete documentation, the IIDA Member’s request will be placed with all others received by the stated deadline. No extensions will be granted.
  7. The Foundation will award financial assistance to 5 (five) IIDA Members. The process for determining the five recipients will be a lottery system. Recipients will be notified in February 2010.
