May 18, 2007, Chicago, IL – The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) convened with the CoreNet Global and the American Institute of Architects to present the annual Sustainability Leadership Awards for Design and Development at the CoreNet Global Summit Denver.

There were a record number of nominations for the 2007 award, signifying the dramatic increase in the awareness and use of sustainable practices by global for-profit and not-for profit organizations.

The 2007 winners are: For Achievement in Sustainable Design Collaboration: G-S-B-S and BIG-D Construction; For Achievement in Not-For-Profit Organizations: The team of RAND CORPORATION and D-M-J-M DESIGN; For Achievement in the category of Large Corporations: The Hearst Corporation with Tishman Speyer Properties for the new Hearst Tower in New York City; For Achievement in the category of Public Sector and Government: The U.S. General Services Administration for its new San Francisco high rise office complex; and For Achievement in the category of Small to Mid-Sized Enterprises: Adobe Systems Inc. with Cushman & Wakefield for Adobe’s Platinum LEED™ Certification.

“Sustainability – when applied at its optimal level – is really an integrated set of practices, policies and products across the supply chain . . . another version of the People, Planet and Profit theme,” commented CoreNet Global Chairman Mark Golan. “The entire field of nominees reflects the true influence and impact that corporate real estate and the workplace together can have on sustainability.”

Joining Golan, Vice President, Internet Solutions Group, Connected Real Estate, for Cisco Systems, Inc., in the awards presentation were Alexander Thome, AIA, CDT, LEED AP, Fentress Bradburn Architects, representing the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Elise Shapiro, IIDA, Facilities Manager, Booz, Allen, Hamilton, representing the International Interiors Design Association (IIDA).
