MICHELLE KRAKER NAMED MANAGER OF STUDENT MARKETING AND SOCIAL MEDIA

August 31, 2009, Chicago, IL – The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) announces the appointment of Michelle Kraker as Manager of Student Marketing and Social Media. In this role, Ms. Kraker will oversee the Association’s student marketing efforts, including the Student Mentoring Week and Student Sustainable Design Competition initiatives, and providing support for the Association’s Campus Centers. In addition, she will work to enlarge the Association’s online presence and social media involvement.

Prior to joining IIDA, Ms. Kraker was a familiar face around The Merchandise Mart, serving as Programming Manager for the annual NeoCon shows. She worked with the Programming Director to secure hundreds of speakers for Continuing Education Unit (CEU) seminars at NeoCon shows across the United States, managing the presentation needs, speaker logistics and general marketing efforts. In this role, Ms. Kraker helped to launch a successful VIP program to entice Chicago-area designers to NeoCon and launched the first-ever Student GREENlife Design Competition, which attracted the participation of nearly 30 design schools. Most recently she was Student Events Manager for NeoCon shows, increasing her experience with educators, manufacturers and design professionals.

Ms. Kraker joins the newly developed IIDA Communications team, complementing the strong writing skills of Communications Manager Carmen O’Donnell, visual integrity of Graphic Designer Joe Thonippara and marketing leadership of Jeanne Fisher. Ms. Kraker is based in the IIDA Headquarters in The Merchandise Mart, Chicago. She can be reached at 312.379.5135 or mkraker@iida.org.
