Lilliana Alvarado, CHID, EDAC, IIDA, NCIDQ, LEED AP founded UPHEALING with a mission to create uplifting and engaging spaces for healthcare environments. For nearly 20 years she has designed and completed a wide range of healthcare settings, and she approaches every project with a thorough understanding of the needs of her clients. Her dedication to this understanding allows for a richer and better team approach to innovative solutions which are safe, functional and comfortable for staff, patients and their families.

Gilbert Broco graduated in 2002 with a BA in Environmental Design Architecture from the University of Puerto Rico. He worked in architecture as well as interior and furniture design for several years. He has been with the CI Group for over 9 years and is currently the Vice President of Culture & Design; he runs the Design department, employee engagement and community outreach for their 7 locations across the Southeast. His passion for the arts and design, combined with his interest in human behavior and collaboration, keeps him busy and active at work and in the community. Gilbert was the President for the IIDA Central Florida Chapter in 2018 and currently is a Trustee of the IIDA Foundation. With over 18 years of experience in commercial, healthcare, educational and governmental projects, his objective is to always create a harmonious work environment centralized in the health and well-being of people’s lives.

Sara K. Wengert, AIA, ASID

Sara K. Wengert is a principal with architecture+ in New York where she specializes in psychiatric facility planning and interior design. She manages the patient safety standards team and supervises all interior design and FF&E (furniture, furnishings, and equipment) projects all while offering mentorship to junior staff. Wengert’s work includes the award-winning Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital and she also works on educational, religious, and residential spaces. Wengert is dedicated to designing long-lasting interior environments that contribute to recovery.
