April 15, 2010, Houston, TX – The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is proud to announce that the 2010 IIDA Leaders Breakfast series will be traveling to Houston at the Junior League of Houston Ballroom on May 12, from 7:30-9:30 a.m. Last year, the Texas/Oklahoma Chapter hosted over 300 industry and business leaders, and the Chapter is thrilled to bring the Leaders Breakfast program back to Houston for the second time. The 2010 Houston Leaders Breakfast will convene speaker Dan Heath and honoree Steve Stelzer for a morning of inspiration and sustainable leadership.

Keynote speaker Dan Heath is co-author, with his brother Chip, of the book Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die, a Business Week and New York Times bestseller which has been translated into 23 languages since it was released three years ago. Dan's latest book, Switch: How to Change Things When Change Is Hard, also written with Chip, was released in February 2010 and is already a New York Times and Wall Street Journal best seller. Dan co-authors a monthly column for Fast Company magazine and serves as a Consultant to the Policy Programs at the Aspen Institute. He has taught and consulted on the topic of "making ideas stick" with organizations such as Microsoft, Macy's, Nestle, and the American Heart Association.

Additionally, the IIDA Texas/Oklahoma Chapter will honor Steve Stelzer for his outstanding contributions to the local community and his promotion of green energy and green building. Steve currently serves as the Program Director for the Code Enforcement Green Building Resource Center. The Center's mission is "To enable the public to experience and learn more about energy, water and material conserving design and construction, also known as Green Building." Steve reviews plans brought in by the public and offers strategies to save energy and water to help make their buildings healthier.

Leaders Breakfast events are attended annually by designers, industry leaders, contractors, developers, real estate brokers and key business leaders in each city. Each breakfast is highlighted by a keynote speaker exemplifying an aspect of leadership in today’s world. This promises to be a stand-out year with the continued support of National Benefactors Herman Miller and Interior Design magazine.
