June 14, 2010, Chicago, IL —The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) inducted Viveca Bissonnette, IIDA, Associate at Carrier Johnson + CULTURE, San Diego, CA, as the Association’s president for the 2010-2011 term. Bissonnette was inducted at the Association’s Annual Meeting, June 13, 2010 held at the Museum of Contemporary Art. She succeeds Derrell Parker, FIIDA. Viveca, as well as other International Board Members were elected by the IIDA Membership. A list of the International Board individuals is detailed below. In addition, the IIDA Foundation announced three new members will join the Board of Trustees (listed below).

With more than six years at Carrier Johnson + CULTURE, a leading architecture, interior design and graphics firm based in California, and fifteen years in corporate America, Viveca brings a broad depth of experience to her leadership responsibilities. Outside of Carrier Johnson, Viveca is actively involved in the design community. She is a director on the board of the San Diego Architectural Foundation and a member of the Art Institute of San Diego’s Program Advisory Council. Viveca has served as a trustee for the IIDA Foundation and as a member of Editorial Advisory Boards for both Perspective and Interiors and Sources magazines. In 2004, she was recognized as one of ten U.S. designers to watch, as part of the IIDA 10 year anniversary celebration, for her project work, her service to the community, and her commitment to professionalism.

Viveca said her objective as she assumes the role of president is to unify the design community and elevate the profession. “The Interior Design profession is at a pivotal point having grown in reputation and awareness during the past several decades. My goal as President will be to foster an environment of collaboration that will bring together all stakeholders to strengthen and unify the design community and elevate and continue to move our profession forward.”
